EUGENE CARLTON
WARSAW -- Eugene Keith Carlton, 74, died Monday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
A lifelong resident of Duplin County and a retired farmer, he was the son of the late Eugene Ray and Eldora Smith Carlton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and meeting friends for breakfast at Bojangles.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen McGowan Carlton; one son, Gene Carlton, and his wife, Cindie; one daughter, Kathy Carlton Robbins, and her husband, John; four grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Carlton of Warsaw, Jamie Robbins Owensby and her husband, Shelby, of Moncure, and Bonnie Robbins Reedy and her husband, Doug, of Sanford; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Isaac Owensby of Moncure; and one sister, Carol Carlton Anderson of Fredericksburg, Va.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Carlton Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service tonight, and other times at the home of Gene and Cindie Carlton, 285 Beasley-Torrans Road.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Warsaw United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 422, Warsaw; or to Carlton United Methodist Church, 212 Beasley Torrans Road, Warsaw, 28398.
