AVIS MOORE
KENANSVILLE -- Avis Priscilla Moore, 60, of 120 Moore St., died Monday at Guardian Care of Kenansville.
She was born in Duplin County to the late Henry and Beatrice Middleton Moore. She attended public schools in Wayne and Duplin counties, graduated from Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, and taught in the Nash County Schools. She also attended the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Mo., and worked with the Kansas City Department of Social Services for six years. She was employed by the Department of Social Services in Durham and Kenansville for 20 years and was currently working with the North Carolina Department of Corrections as probation officer in Duplin County. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and the Kenansville Missionary Baptist Church, where she had served as a musician for the Senior Choir.
She is survived by three cousins, Deacon Jimmy Middleton of Warsaw, Fred Faison Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Larry Jones of Kenansville; and one aunt, Vera H. Faison of Kenansville.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Kenansville. The Rev. E.T. Coston will officiate. Burial will be in Middleton Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing.
Rhodes Funeral Home in Warsaw is serving the family.
