ELIZABETH S. COTTON
GARNER -- Elizabeth Summerlin Cotton, age 90, formerly of Grantham School Road, Mt. Olive and Lawndale Assisted Living Home in Garner, died Monday at Laurels of Forest Glen.
Born in Mount Olive, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Nettie Smith Summerlin and was married to the late James Robie Cotton. A homemaker, she was a member of Falling Creek United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women Society and the Adult Sunday School Class.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Langston officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Annette Pate of Garner and Carolyn Faye Falcone of Conyers, Ga.; one son, James Robie Cotton of Garner; five grandchildren, Teresa Flowers, Jeffery P. Flowers, Pamela Pate Bass, Tracy Cotton Newman, and Amy Cotton Smith; one step-grandchild, Michelle Baggett Wilkins; seven great grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Smith Summerlin.
Family members will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. They request that memorial gifts be directed to Falling Creek United Methodist Church, 299 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
"Mom, we love you deeply and will miss you very much, but we will take lasting comfort in the knowledge that you are reunited with our Dad in Heaven."
