LETTIE JEAN COLLINS
DANVILLE, Va. -- Lettie Jean Collins went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 4, 2005. Our Angel, Lettie Jean, was chosen by God to be one his His Own.
A loving, dedicated, and supportive spouse for 52 years, as well as a caring, compassionate Mother of four, she was affectionately known to many as "Grannie." Others may remember her as "The Cake Lady" or "Letybug." Always seeing the glass as half-full, Lettie Jean found good in everyone and sparkled enthusiasm with those she touched. Cooking, sewing, gardening, singing, arts and crafts; she could do it all with such ease and grace. Loved by so many, we accept God's will that Heaven needs this special angel.

The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2005, at Trinity Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles Wickham will officiate, with assistance from the Rev. Linwood Daniel and the Rev. Kermit Law. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
A native of Pittsylvania County, born October 31, 1933, she was a Homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Newton T. and Willie S. Cassada. She was a graduate of Whitmell Farm Life School and a member of Tunstall Young Homemaker's and Trinity Methodist Church, Trinity Chancellor Choir and Voices of Praise. She was employed by Pittsylvania County Schools for many years.
She is survived by her husband, J. Carroll Collins of the home; three daughters, Kathryn C. Dix and husband, Ricky of Danville, Jean Carol Johnston and husband, Brian of Dry Fork, and Amy C. Licata and husband, Joseph of Cary; one son, John P. Collins and wife, Sandra of Goldsboro; three granddaughters, Jordan Paige Dix and Taylor Catherine Dix of Danville, and Heather Noell Johnston of Dry Fork; three brothers, Newton T. Cassada Jr., Edward B. Cassada, both of Danville, and Boyd L. "Butch" Cassada of Danville; two sisters, Helen C. Astin of Danville, and Carolyn C. Owen of Mt. Holley.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 8:30 at Trinity Methodist Church and other times at the home of Ricky and Kathy Dix, 155 Fairmont Circle, Windsor Heights, Danville, Va.
Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
