JOHN S. BRASWELL
SALISBURY -- John Stanley Braswell, 65, died Monday at his home after 18 months of declining health.
He was a 1957 graduate of Goldsboro High School and was a former police officer in Goldsboro and Rocky Mount. He retired as an investigator with the North Carolina Department of Insurance. He was a member of China Grove United Methodist Church, Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge and Rowan County Retired Peace Officers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Ballance Braswell; two daughters, Sandra L. Braswell of China Grove and Linda Braswell Scarborough of China Grove; one brother, Kenneth Braswell of Raleigh; one sister, Nancy Braswell Strickland of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in China Grove. The Reverends Vance Lowe and James Faggart will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, and other times at the residence.
