MILDRED B. MCCULLEN
Mildred Brogden McCullen, 79, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Wayne County to the late Ed Sr. and Pearl Potter Brogden, and married to the late T.H. "Bo" McCullen. She was a member of Brogden Chapel Church.
A funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Rev. Bessie Murphy will officiate. Burial will follow at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Billy T. and wife, Janice McCullen of Dudley, and Michael H. Brogden of Havelock; four daughters, Peggy M. Vanoster, Nell M. Comer, Carolyn M. Strickland, and Kathy M. and husband, Ray Smith, all of Dudley; two brothers, Ed Brogden Jr. and John H. Brogden, both of Goldsboro; two sisters, Josephine Brock and Thelma Daniels, both of Dudley; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Farrell McCullen and wife, Myrtle Whitley McCullen; two sons-in-law, William "Bill" Vanoster and Eddy Strickland; two brothers, Phillip Brogden and Thurman Brogden; six sisters, Ruby Pate, Lilly Benton, Ruth Rollison, Christine Brogden, Pauline Brogden, and Evaline Brogden.
The family received friends Saturday evening from 7 until 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Ray and Kathy Smith, 183 McCullen Lane, Dudley, N.C., 28333.
