PATRICIA W. DARDEN
FARO -- Mrs. Patricia Wiggs Darden, 65, of 1512 Faro Road, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Mrs. Darden was born in Wayne County and was the daughter of Hazel Dozier Wiggs of Fremont and the late Charles Wiggs. She worked as the branch manager for BB&T Bank in Eureka and had worked with the bank for 31 years.
Patricia had a great interest in fishing, needlework, crocheting, reading, and arts and crafts.
For those who knew her, Patricia will be remembered as a generous, caring, compassionate woman and loyal friend to so many. The love in Patricia's life was God, family and friends.
Patricia was a member of Yelverton United Methodist Church and served as the church organist and pianist for many years. She was the financial secretary for the church and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Along with her tireless commitment to help people in her community, she was involved in organizing many fundraisers and was actively involved in her children's school functions. Mrs. Darden was a member of the Eureka Ruritanettes and in 1976 she helped organize the county-wide bi-centennial celebration.
Patricia was a woman of incredible faith in God, hope for the world and love for others. She will be remembered as a loving and faithful wife, mother, daughter and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Hardy and the Rev. William Creech officiating. Burial will follow in the Eureka Cemetery.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Darden leaves to cherish her memory her husband, William Darden; her daughters, Gail Elmore and husband Bill of Stantonsburg and Dana Darden Lewis of Faro; her sisters, Cynthia Bruton of Greer, S.C., and Mary Dee Patty of Greensboro; and two grandchildren, Jordan Elmore and Austin Lewis.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 96268, Washington, D.C., 20090-6268.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
