JAMES SPEIGHT SR.
ROCKY MOUNT -- James Ambler Speight Sr., 74, died Tuesday.
He was born on Aug. 20, 1930, in Edgecombe County to the late Elias Carr Speight and Alice Loretta Dawson Speight. He was a pharmacist at Almand's Drug store for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Speight of the home; two daughters, Mary B. Wright and Alison Knox of Southern Pines; two sons, James A. Speight Jr. of Raleigh and Kevin Speight of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Patrick, Rebecca, Ian, Noah and Lacy; and three sisters, Mary Frances Speight of Rocky Mount and Catherine Berry and Nancy Rawls of Myrtle Beach.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Javon Saxon presiding.
Father Saxon will also preside at the rosary service today at 6 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home and the family will remain afterward to receive friends from 7 until 8:30. At other times they will receive friends at the residence at 200 Dover Road in Rocky Mount.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Donor Services, P.O. Box 4261, Pittsfield, Mass., 01202; and to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 315 Hammond St., Rocky Mount, N.C. 27803.
