SPENCER RACKLEY JR.
CHARLOTTE -- Spencer R. Rackley Jr., 81, died Wednesday at the Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born in Goldsboro and was the son of the late Spencer and Florence Muns Rackley. He served 20 years active duty in the U.S. Navy, followed by another 10 years in Feet Reserve. He was formerly employed as an electrician at Bowaters and Eslon Thermoplastics and had lived in Lancaster, S.C., before moving to Charlotte in 1969.
He is survived by a daughter, Robin A. Rackley Oxendine of Charlotte; two sons, Spencer R. Rackley IV of Charlotte and Joseph L. Rackley of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; one sister, Mary Holland of Cary; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m.. at Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Road, Charlotte. Chaplain Beth Britain will officiate.
