MINNIE MAE TART
Minnie Mae "Sis" Denning Tart, 100, of 4342 U.S. Hwy. 13 S., died Friday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late John William Denning and Minnie Mae Britt Denning, and was married to the late Lisker Tart. Mrs. Tart attended Atlantic Christian College and was a teacher in the early 1920s. On December 22, 1925, she eloped with her husband Lisker Tart. She was a life-long, faithful member of St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Women's Ministry. Mrs. Tart was also a member of the Wayne County Extension Homemakers and the Grange.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Richard Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Tart is survived by her children, John Tart and wife, Marjorie of Goldsboro, Sarah T. Lewis and husband, William of Wilson, Tillie T. Oliver of Goldsboro and Billy O. Tart and friend, Jane Blackman of Goldsboro; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and her special caretaker, Jewel Laws.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Billy Ray Oliver; her daughter-in-law, Linda Tart; her brothers, Norman, Luke, Leonard, Herman and El; and her sister, Eva.
Flowers are welcome, while memorials may be made to St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, 276 St. John Church Road, Four Oaks, N.C., 27524.
The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m., and other times at the home of her son, John and Marjorie Tart, 4294 U.S. Hwy. 13 S., Goldsboro.
