JUANITA HICKS
Juanita Williams Hicks, 91, of 3722 Salem Church Road, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Hollowell officiating. Burial will be in the Pikeville Cemetery.
Mrs. Hicks was a native of Wayne County, was the daughter of the late Edgar Williams and Norma Davis Williams and was the widow of James Wesley Hicks Sr. She retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital as a receptionist and, prior to working with the hospital, she worked in the cafeteria at the Virginia Street School in Goldsboro. She was the oldest living active member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by one son, Carlton Donald Hicks of Goldsboro; one daughter, Joan H. Kearney, and husband, Ronnie, of Goldsboro; one daughter-in-law, Ruby Hicks of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Donna Sullivan and husband Gary of Pikeville, Linda Coston and husband James of Pikeville, Kathy Hicks of Goldsboro, Rhonda Gray and husband Kim of LaGrange, Jeff Kearney and wife Beth of Cary, Heidi Bizzell and husband Kent of Princeton, Vickie Pate and husband Glenn of Pikeville, Janice Sasser and husband Glenn of Goldsboro, Norma Braswell and husband Scott of Goldsboro and James Hicks III and wife Pam of Hookerton; and 18 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Wesley Hicks, Jr., her great-grandson, Robin Kelley, and her brother, Theodore Williams.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Joan and Ronnie Kearney, 3704 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro.
