SAM EVANS
The funeral for Deacon Sam Evans will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Elm Grove Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, in Pikeville. Pastor Kenneth D. Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be in Hooks Grove Church Cemetery.
Mr. Evans died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mary B. Evans of the home; four sons, Leroy and Howard of Goldsboro and Charles of Fayetteville and Tony of Rosewood; six daughters, Roberta Hamilton of Forte Washington, Md., Daisy Fairbault of Hillsborough, Ella Wynn, Betty Middleton and Eva Middleton of Godlsboro and Gail Jones of Forestville, Md.; two sisters, Phenia Stevens of Wilson and Willie Bea Pitt of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Floyd Evans of Wilson; and 35 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
The viewing will be from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday at McIntyre Funeral Home and the wake will follow from 7 until 8 in the chapel.
At other times the family will receive friends at the residence at 1512 Hart Circle.
