SHELVIA D. EDWARDS
Shelvia D. Edwards, of 1005 Harris Street, Apt. 18 in Quinn Village, died at Wayne Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon.
She was the daughter of the late William Forest and Callie Lofton Davis. She was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, in Mount Olive, where she served as a trustee, member of Home Mission and the kitchen committee.
She worked for Wayne County Public Schools for 25 years, retiring in August 1998. She was also self-employed, as co-owner of Edwards Copy and Ministries.
A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11, from Greater St. John FWB Church, 613 Mitchell Road in Dudley. The Bishop E.O. Edwards will officate. Burial will be in the Old Mill Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Bishop E.O. Edwards of the home; five daughters, Sharion Melton of Houston, Texas, Kimberly Horne of Garner, Shelvia Jeannie Sasser and Deidre Daniels of Goldsboro, and Ann E. Bell of Orlando, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Willie Ray Davis of Winston-Salem, Moderator James Davis of Wilson, Ed Davis of Mount Olive, and Otha Davis of Goldsboro; five sisters, Neicy Moore of Magnolia, Shirley Wells of Wilson, Dorothy Parker of Faison, and Mamie Sherard and Gayle Hardy of Goldsboro.
Arrangements are being handled by Rhodes Funeral Home.
