MARJORIE S. SMITH
Marjorie Stenhouse Smith, 82, of 804 E. Beech St., died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 30, 1922, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Dr. Henry Merritt Stenhouse and Mary Cleaves Daniels Stenhouse. She was the widow of James Norfleet Smith and was a graduate of Duke University.
Mrs. Smith was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, serving in various ministries at the church including Sunday school teacher, E.Y.C. Advisor, Vestry, chairman of the Altar Guild, treasurer of the church and Diocesan E.C.W. treasurer. And she was a choir member for over 40 years.
Mrs. Smith served her community by serving on the board of the Soup Kitchen and as a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was also a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in North Carolina.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Eugene Carpenter presiding and the Rt. Rev. George Daniels Stenhouse assisting.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Ann S. Hall and husband, Harold, of Raleigh, Jane S. Morgan and husband, Elford, of Spartanburg, S.C., Marjorie S. Clark and husband, Steve, of Goldsboro, Henry C. Smith and wife, Kim, of Goldsboro, and Kempton S. Smith and wife, Gina, of Lexington, S.C.; her brother, the Rt. Rev. George Daniels Stenhouse and wife, Sylvia, of Louisville, Ky.; her grandchildren, Anne Morgan Miller and husband, Paul, of Atlanta, Ga., Dr. James G. Hall and wife, Stephanie, of Spartanburg, S.C., Mary Battle Hall Roethling and husband, Dr. Peter Roethling, of Goldsboro, Elford S.Morgan and wife, Elizabeth, of Spartanburg, S.C., Marjorie Clark Fickling and husband, Tye, of Goldsboro, Henry Claiborne Smith Jr. of Goldsboro, Caroline Hagen Smith of Goldsboro, James Norfleet Smith II of Lexington, S.C., and Kempton S. Smith Jr. of Lexington, S.C.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Carolyn Stenhouse Lewis and Cleaves Stenhouse Smith; her brother, Dr. Henry Merritt Stenhouse Jr., her step-sons, Robert Miller Smith and James Norfleet Smith Jr.

The family will receive friends at the home of Henry and Kim Smith, 1107 E. Mulberry St., Goldsboro.
