DUDLEY -- Walter Wooten "Duke" Hines, 76, of 645 Eagles Nest Road, died Wednesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Harrison and the Rev. Johnny Sasser officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. At other times, they will be at the Frank Hines residence, 524 Eagles Nest Road, Dudley. Committal and interment will be on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Hines-Lewis Cemetery in the Indian Springs community.
Mr. Hines is survived by seven children, Judy O'Brien of Goldsboro, Laura Dean and husband, Richard Dean of South Carolina, James Hines and wife, Peggy Hines of Seven Springs, Frank Hines and wife, Debra Hines of Dudley, Sandra Sullivan and husband, John Dail Sullivan of Mount Olive, Timothy Hines and Tip Pete Hines, both of Dudley; a sister, Smithie Hines Mitchell of Dudley; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was a retired self-employed automobile mechanic. Preceding him in death were a grandson, John Roland Sullivan; his parents, Allen Wooten Hines and Lucy Lewis Hines; five brothers, Henry, Claude, Aaron, Jerry, and Isaac Hines; and four sisters, Maybelle Price, Sadie Blanton, Vera Tadlock, and Frances Herring.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, 27534.
