PEARL S. McROY

PEARL S. McROY

Pearl Stewart McRoy, 96, went to be with her Lord on December 4, 2004. She died at her home in Goldsboro, NC.

Mrs. McRoy was born in Johnston County to the late William Walter and Mary Langdon Stewart. She was married for 52 years to the late William David McRoy Sr. For those who knew her, Pearl will be remembered as a generous, caring, compassionate woman and a beloved friend to many. The love of her life was God, family and friends. Even during her declining health, she never gave up or let go of her firm belief of the power of prayer. Pearl's determination to let it be God's will was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. McRoy was a faithful member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church. For 40 years she served as the church secretary-treasurer, taught the Sunbeam Sunday School Class and sang in the choir. Along with Pearl's tireless commitment to help people come to know the Lord, she was very active in the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group. This group intercedes in prayer for all of the needs of the church and of its members. Following this meeting, she and others ministered to shut-ins and nursing home residents. She was dedicated to her Circle and the church's Women's Ministries.

Her community involvement included memberships in the Wayne County Home Extension Club, the WCTU and the AARP.

Mrs. McRoy was a graduate of King's Business College. For all the years of its operation, she was the secretary-treasurer of Elliot Packing Company.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at 2 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield and the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. Pearl is survived by her son, W.D.
