JOSEPH MINSHEW
FREMONT -- Joseph Minshew, 76, of 105 W. Main St., died Friday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A funeral service will be held Monday evening at 7 at Howell Funeral Home. The Rev. Otis Penny will officiate.
Mr. Minshew was born in Wayne County on April 20, 1928, to Ada Kearney Minshew of Stantonsburg and the late Willie Minshew. He was a native of Wayne County and was an avid hunter and carpenter.
He is survived by two sons, Glenn Minshew and wife, Linda of Fremont, and Ray Minshew and wife, Annette of Richlands; one daughter, Judy Price and husband, Ricky of Goldsboro; a half brother, Joey Minshew of Pikeville; his mother, Ada Kearney Minshew of Stantonsburg; one brother, Junior Minshew and wife, Faye of Stantonsburg; two sisters, Gladys Gray of Goldsboro and Thelma Cherry of Wilson; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver, Lib Evans of Goldsboro.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Minshew; and a grandson, Stephen James.
The family will receive friends Monday evening following the service at Howell Funeral Home, and other times at the residence at 105 W. Main St., in Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
