Hazel Evelyn Holland Hatch, 89, of 415 Marcia Drive, died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. Dr. Glenn Phillips will officiate. Entombment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

Mrs. Hatch was born in Wayne County to the late William Henry and Verdie Holloman Holland. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband, the late John Woodard Hatch, in retail sales. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Her survivors include two sons, James W. Hatch of LaGrange and David J. Hatch of Wilson; two daughters, Janet H. Bridges of Alachua, FL and Joyce C. Webb of Gainesville, Fla.; one brother, George Holland of Pikeville; one sister, Esther Kearney of Mount Olive; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles E. Hatch, one daughter, Dorothy H. Hans, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kitty Askins Building Fund, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 125 S. John St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; or to the American Cancer Society of Wayne County.
