ALVIN WATKINS SR.
Alvin Ashton Watkins Sr., 86, of 2199 U.S. 70 West, passed away Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital with his family at his side.
Alvin was born in Wayne County and was the son of the late Windell Riley Watkins and Hattie Stroud Watkins. He was the devoted husband of the late Eunice Nellie Ellis Watkins and was a retired farmer in the Rosewood community. Alvin was a member of New Hope Friends Church.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Alvin is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Alvin Ashton Watkins Jr. and JoAnn Jackson Watkins of Goldsboro; his daughter, Edith Watkins Dudley of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Ashton Watkins and wife, Ashley, of New Bern, Jill Watkins Carden and husband, Phil, of Goldsboro, Kimberly Thompson and husband, Chris, of High Point and Ricky Dudley and wife, Lisa, of Princeton; his great-grandchildren, Kyle Thompson, Clay Thompson, Lauren Dudley, LeAnna Dudley, Rebecca Carden and Noah Carden; and his sister, Ada Hamilton of Goldsboro.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lottie Hinnant, Ellen Futrell and Bertha Jones; and his brothers, Wilbur Watkins, Lester Watkins, and Ressie Watkins of Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday (today) from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Edith Dudley, 1906 O'Berry Center Road, Goldsboro.
