ALMA CRUMPLER
PIKEVILLE -- Alma Head Crumpler, 77, of 1540 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7:30 in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The Reverend Willard Hardison will officiate. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Stoney Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Crumpler was born in Greene County to the late Lem and Ada Caudell Head. She was a member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir and the Ladies Auxiliary and helped in many church activities.
She is survived by one daughter, Susie Crumpler Hooker of Pikeville; two brothers, Zell D Head and wife, Denise, of Snow Hill and Jimmie Head and wife, Edith, of Eureka; four sisters, Odie Chase of Goldsboro, Sudie Tyson of Tarboro, Onnie Lee Bass of Snow Hill and Belle Rhodes and husband, Russell, of Belfast; and two grandchildren, Kelli Corbett and her husband, Kyle, and Jerimee Hooker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William "Bill" Crumpler; one son, Wayne Garland Crumpler; and one daughter, Amy Ruth Crumpler.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service tonight, and other times at the residence.
