JAMES BEAMON
MOUNT OLIVE -- James Thomas "Dick" Beamon, of 2163 Summerlin's Crossroads Road, Mount Olive, died Wednesday night at his home.
He was the son of the late James C. and Mary S. Beamon, who were from La Grange. He had served in the N. C. National Guard and was retired from the DuPont Company in Kinston after many years of service. He also served as a volunteer at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston until his illness. He was a member of Hickory Grove Methodist Church of LaGrange and he faithfully attended the Long Ridge Free Will Baptist Church for as long as his health allowed.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Beamon of the home; two sons, Steve Beamon of Winterville and Timothy Beamon and wife, Teena, of Durant, Okla.; five daughters, Diane B. Holloman and husband, Mitchell of Grimesland, Belinda H. Summerlin and husband Johnny of Goldsboro, Rita H. Ferguson and husband Glen of Goldsboro, Vickie H. Wells of Princeton, and Deena "Ping" Holmes of Dudley; a brother, Fred Beamon and his wife Cile of LaGrange; two sisters, Mary B. Taylor and husband Ben of Kinston, and Ruth Ellen B. Varnell and husband Bob of LaGrange; seven grandchildren, Chris Holloman and wife, Tia, Candace Holloman, Jennifer Lynn Beamon, T. J. Beamon, Deena Wells, Lee Anne Ferguson, and Stephanie Wells. He is also survived by an uncle, Albert Sugg Jr. and wife, Effie Mae; and aunts, Audrey Herring, Nannie Sutton, and Verna Ivey, all of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Harrison officiating. Following the service, the family will remain to receive friends. At other times, they will be at the home. Committal and burial will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
