LINWOOD E. CORBETT
SNOW HILL -- Linwood Earl Corbett, 88, passed away Tuesday following a period of declining health.
A native of Greene County, he was born July 6, 1916, and was the son of the late John and Johnnie Moore Corbett. A veteran, he had served in the U.S. Army during WWII on tours of duty in Ireland and North Africa. Mr. Corbett was a member of Harrell's Chapel FWB Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Rev. Chuch Owens officiating. Committal services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Harrell's Chapel Church Cemetery.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Corbett was preceded in death in death by his siblings, Clyde Corbett Hill Mewborn, David Corbett, Kirby Corbett, Woodrow Corbett, Rock Corbett, Nellie Corbett Caudell and Frances Corbett Long.
He is survived by his sisters, Bessie Mae Corbett Ham and Margaret Corbett Ham, both of Snow Hill and Dixie Corbett Evans and husband, Charles, of Richmond, Va.; and brothers, Russell Corbett and wife, Joyce, of Snow Hill and Jimmie Corbett and wife Eunice of Kinston.
The family will receive friends following the service today and other times at the home of Russell and Joyce Corbett, 1101 Hart Circle, Snow Hill.
