ROGER M. FLYNN

Roger Milton Flynn, 61, of 808 Guilford St. died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Rocky Point, Mr. Flynn was the son of the late Paul A. Flynn and Hazel Futch Flynn. Mr. Flynn began his career in law enforcement with the Wilmington Police Department and later worked with the North Carolina Highway Patrol. He retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles and was serving as a deputy U.S. marshal. Mr. Flynn served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Norris, O.S.F.S., presiding. Graveside services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at the Pike Creek Cemetery in Rocky Point.

Mr. Flynn is survived by his wife, Barbara T. Flynn; his sons, Paul A. Flynn and wife, Elizabeth, of Washington, D.C., and Keith R. Flynn of Raleigh; and his grandchildren, Brendan, Colin, Marquerite and Paul Jr.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sybil Hudgins and Almeada Thornton; and his brother, Paul A. Flynn Jr.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834; St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson Ave., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534; or to the Rocky Point United Methodist Church, Rocky Point, N.C. 28457.

The family will gather for a prayer service today at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and will receive friends following the service at the church.
