JAMES D. SUGG SR.
James D. Sugg Sr., 76, of 2172 U.S. 70 West died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Morgan Franklin Sugg Sr. and Lizzie Watkins Sugg. For over 55 years, Mr. Sugg was the owner and operator of Sugg Paint Co. in Goldsboro. He was an active member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church and was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Dann Patrick, the Rev. Richard Cordell and the Rev. Charles Sugg officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Sugg is survived by his wife, Geraldine Harper Sugg; his sons, James D. Sugg, Jr. of Goldsboro and Randy Harper of Snow Hill; his daughters, Alva Lynn Sugg, Michelle Howell, and Kim Cutway, all of Goldsboro; his sisters, Elizabeth Rowell, Sally Mae Molina, Marion Minchew, Helen Whitley, and Catherine Dawson; his brothers, Morgan Sugg Jr., and Charles Sugg; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Wayne Sugg; his daughter, Vickie Marie Boyce; his grandchildren, Vickie Sue Sugg and James Christopher Sugg; his sisters, Gertrude Thompson, Peggy Pope and Dorothy Vance; and his brothers, George Edward Sugg, Alfred Miller Sugg, and Fred Sugg.
Memorials in his memory may be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 1200 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
