BYARD KORNEGAY SR.
MOUNT OLIVE -- Byard Grant Kornegay Sr., 83, of 776 N.C. Highway 403 West, died Sunday night.
He was a well-known Duplin County farmer.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Outlaw Kornegay; two daughters, Mary Hazel Manuel and husband Bill of Dudley, and Linda Kay Lane and husband Charles of Minnesoti Beach; four sons, Jimmy Kornegay and wife Lorraine of Mount Olive, Byard Grant "Bobby" Kornegay Jr. and wife, Janet of Mount Olive, Gerald Kornegay of Laurinburg, and Ricky Kornegay of Mount Olive; a stepdaughter, Beverly Howard of Newton Grove; a sister, Teressa K. Marshburn of Wilmington; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Kornegay; the mother of his children, Hazel Christine Smith Kornegay; a brother, Lamont Kornegay; and his parents, Felix Kelly Kornegay and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Grant Kornegay.
The funeral for Mr. Kornegay will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Tyndall Funeral Chapel. Visitation will follow the service. Committal and interment will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
Memorial donations may be made to the Duplin County EMS or Wayne County EMS.
