JIMMIE A. JOHNSON
KINSTON -- Jimmie A. Johnson, 69, of 2818 Oakland Drive, died Friday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of the late William Arthur Johnson and the late Rebecca Caroline Batts Johnson of Beulaville, N.C. Mr. Johnson retired from DuPont and later worked for the company as an independent consultant.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kinston where he served as an ordained deacon and elder. A memorial service was to be held there today at 3 p.m., following a private burial at Oakridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill. The officiating minister was to be the Rev. Jonathan Wallace.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Carolyn Smith Johnson; two sons, Al Johnson of Albertson and Pat Johnson and wife, Angie, of Kinston; two grandsons, Tyler Johnson and Trevor Johnson of Kinston; four sisters, Shirley Lanier, Margaret Miller and Ruth Grady of Beulaville and Sue Hunter of Kinston.
The family was to receive friends at the church following the memorial service, and other times at the home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
