E. CHESTER WIGGINS
MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for E. Chester Wiggins, 88, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Chapel in Mount Olive. Interment will be in Wiggins Family Cemetery in the Red Hill community.
A resident of 1721 Arundel in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mr. Wiggins died Monday at Grand Strand Medical Center.
Born and raised in the Red Hill community of Duplin County, he was the son of the late Henry Roland and Lillie Mae Price Wiggins. He graduated from B. F. Grady High School at Albertson and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. His life work was that of being a meat-cutter and musician, and more recently, a contractor, having operated Wiggins Construction Co. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor C. Apriglano Wiggins of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Wiggins of Myrtle Beach and Gary and Joan Wiggins of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Lathan Wiggins of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Gary Wiggins Jr. of Vale, N.C., Christopher Wiggins of Atlanta, Ga., and Jo Ann Superior of Rahway, NJ; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A granddaughter, Theresa Ann Gawronski, and two great-grandchildren preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at Tyndall Funeral Home tonight from 7 until 9, and also on Thursday prior to the service.
