RUTH HINSON
Norma Ruth Hinson, a long-time resident of Goldsboro, died Feb. 27, 2004, at the age of 81.
She was the daughter of Jesse Hinson, former sheriff of Wayne County, and Alice Pierce Hinson, both deceased.
Ms. Hinson graduated from Goldsboro High School and attended East Carolina University. She participated in the drama department in high school and in plays elsewhere in the community. She also served as a hostess at the USO for servicemen stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base during World War II. Her professional career included working for an import and export company in Norfolk, Va., as a bookkeeper at Wayco, and several years as a bookkeeper at the First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Black Memorial Chapel at the First Presbyterian Church. Dr. William Hufham will officiate. Family members will greet friends immediately afterward. A private burial will be held at Wayne Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Kirkwood Retirement Community, 2710 Langston Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; or to First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
