CLIFTON SULLIVAN

Clifton Larry Sullivan, 82, of 808 Patetown Road, died Monday at his home.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Murray Allen Sullivan and Lydia Susan Boyette Sullivan and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Sullivan was a retired farmer and had retired from the City of Goldsboro as an operator for the City Water Plant. In 1978, he was the recipient of the Employee of the Year Award for the City of Goldsboro. Mr. Sullivan was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, where he had served a number of years as the church treasurer and as treasurer for the Men's Prayer Group.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Berry Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife, Dorothy Futrell Sullivan; a daughter, Mary Susan Sullivan Thornton and husband, Bud Thornton, of Pikeville; a brother, Paul B. Sullivan and his wife, Hazel Howell Sullivan of Belfast; his grandchildren, Melody Hicks James and husband, Phil of Goldsboro, William Frank Hicks and wife, Teresa of Pikeville, Larry Casper Hicks and wife, Melissa of Snow Hill, Garry Clifton Hicks and wife, Vickie of Pikeville, and Frances Ellen Mandeville and husband, Marc of Goldsboro; and his great-grandchildren, Rebecca James, Joanna James, Hannah Mandeville, Destiney Hicks and Susan Hicks.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
