Chewning-Keesee
Courtney Lauren Chewning and Kenneth David Keesee Jr. exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 6, 2012, at 5 p.m. at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James H. Harry and Dr. Frederick I. Clifford officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Thomas Chewning of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Chewning Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. James Norwood Daniels Sr. of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Wayne Christian School in 2002 and Meredith College in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and a minor in psychology. She attended Focus on the Family Institute in Colorado Springs, Colo., and graduated from Liberty University with a master’s degree in professional counseling. She is employed as a licensed professional counselor at Goldsboro Counseling Center, PA.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth David Keesee Sr. of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Mrs. Sybil Landrum Keesee, the late Mr. Earl Kenneth Keesee and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Maxwell Herring Sr. of Goldsboro.
He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2000 and High Point University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science and physiology. In 2008, he earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from East Carolina University. He is a therapist and co-owner of Goldsboro Physical Therapy.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a regal ivory silk duchess satin ball gown. It featured a rusched bodice with a sweetheart neckline. Delicate satin covered buttons adorned the back of the bodice, and a full box pleated skirt swept into a chapel length train. Her gown was accented by a cathedral-length Alencon lace mantilla embellished with pearls, originally worn by her mother.
The bride carried a cascading bouquet of mango mini calla lilies, Bells of Ireland, Oncidium orchids, orange roses, safflower and lime-light mini hydrangeas with trailing ivy and Italian ruscus. The bouquet was accented with ivory lace enhanced with pearl studs from her mother’s wedding gown.
Emily Louise Cole of Lynchburg, Va., served as matron of honor, and Kathryn Lynn Daniels of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, served as maid of honor. Anna Lauren Daniels, cousin of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.
Bridesmaids were Ashley Keesee Warren of Pittsburg, Pa., sister of the groom, Eva Rouse Cook of Raleigh, Kathryn Gay Jeffreys of Knoxville, Tenn., Ashley Flouhouse Mokris of Charlotte and Molly Rose Parker of Kitty Hawk.
Kenneth David Keesee Sr., father of the groom, served as best man.
Groomsmen were Daniel Grant Chewning of Goldsboro, brother of the bride, Michael Jeffrey Bruschuk of Villa Park, Ill., Jerry Glenn Ferguson of Rolesville, Ryan Jeffrey Heverly of Greensboro, Bela Nagypal VI of Goldsboro, Shane Jennings Powell of Newport and Matthew James Richardson of San Diego, Calif.
Jeremiah Daniels, cousin of the bride, was Scripture reader.
A program of wedding music was provided by Alice Campbell, organist; Wesley Cole, violinist; and Joseph Brinson, trumpeter. Charles McDonell was vocalist.
Presiding at the register was Kate Daniels. Emily Bell and Karen Benton distributed programs. The wedding was directed by Jane Walston.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception dinner and dance at Walnut Creek Country Club. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Daniels and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Daniels Jr., uncles and aunts of the bride.
The parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner and dance at Walnut Creek Country Club the evening before the wedding.
Events before the wedding included an engagement dinner and dance at Hinnant Family Vineyards in Pine Level hosted by the parents and grandparents of the bride; a monogram shower and brunch hosted by Hannah Rouse, Karla Jeffreys, Sandra Wilkins, Eva Cook, Kathryn Jeffreys and Margaret Lee Wilkins at the home of Mrs. Rouse; a luncheon hosted by Moms In Touch prayer group at the home of Jan Rose; a backyard supper and shower held at the home of Ted and Jewel Ivey, uncle and aunt of the groom, hosted by family and friends; a bridal shower at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church hosted by ladies in the church; a shower for the couple hosted by the staff at Goldsboro Physical Therapy; a bachelorette weekend and lingerie shower in Emerald Isle hosted by Emily Cole and Katie Daniels; a bachelor weekend in Beaufort; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon hosted by Teri Chewning, Kathy Daniels and Susie Daniels, aunts of the bride, at Second Empire Restaurant in Raleigh.
After a wedding trip to the French Polynesian Islands of Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Moorea, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
