Smith-Toler
Brittany Leigh Smith and Joseph William Toler of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 28, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. at Hamstead Acres, with pastor R. Wes Boyd officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dale Smith and Diane Smith of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Harry and Maxine Smith of Uniontown, Pa., Midge Popish and the late Woody Popish of Weirton, W. Va.
She is a 2007 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2009 graduate of Wayne Community College’s Dental Assisting Program. She is employed as a certified dental assistant at Smithfield Family Dentistry.
The groom is the son of Jennifer Hobkirk of Goldsboro and the grandson of Evelyn Webb of Goldsboro.
He is a 2007 North Carolina Scholar and honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. He is employed as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service.
The bride was escorted by her father, Dale Smith, and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an Alfred Angelo white strapless satin organza over satin gown that included rhinestones and crystal beading on the bodice with a chapel train.
The headband she wore was adorned with Swarovski crystals, and her rhinestone vintage necklace was her grandmother’s.
The bride carried a bouquet of white tulips, roses and calla lilies.
Beth Toler, sister-in-law of the groom, served as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kayla Williams, cousin of the groom, Mackenzi Beasley, Courtney Smith and Nicki Thigpen.
Eric Toler, brother of the groom, served as best man.
Groomsmen were Matthew Smith, brother of the bride, Chris Stevens, Heath Smith and Steve Thigpen.
Presli Grey Toler, niece of the groom, was flower girl.
Lisa Millard and Susan Tyner directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Sandra Colbert, aunt of the groom. Sandra Colbert distributed programs.
Special thanks to Ann and Jay Ham for the use of their lovely Hamstead Acres, Jean McNeil for her delicious food and beautiful decorating and Brittany Schultze and Ginny Corbett for providing wonderful pictures to cherish memories of this day.
Ceremony music provided by Tommy King, who also served as DJ.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Heritage Hall at Hamstead Acres.
The groom’s mother hosted a rehearsal dinner at Murphy’s Place April 27.
After a wedding trip to Asheville, the couple resides in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a wedding shower at Rosewood First Baptist Church March 18 hosted by Courtney Smith and Susan Tyner; a lingerie shower/bachelorette’s night out in Clayton/Raleigh April 14 given by Beth Toler; and a bachelor’s night out in Raleigh April 14 given by Eric Toler.
