Soistman - Parvin
Bridget Gail Parvin and Benjamin Aaron Soistman exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 11 at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Mount Olive, with Dr. Dennis Atwood officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James DeWayne Parvin of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of Ruth Martin Parker and the late Louis Outlaw Parker of Mount Olive and Velma Edwards Parvin and the late James Burbank Parvin of Washington.
She is a graduate of Southern Wayne High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a concentration in math and science. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club at the 2008 Debutante Ball.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Frank Soistman Jr. of Cordova, Md., and the grandson of Francis DePaula Soistman and the late John Frank Soistman of Reiserstown, Md., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Morris of Timonium, Md.
He is a graduate of Easton High School in Maryland and Mount Olive College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in agribusiness. He is employed by FCI as an agricultural specialist in sales and service in Raeford.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a Casablanca formal gown. The silk taffeta ball gown featured a sweetheart neckline and ruched bodice adorned with beaded and embroidered appliqués. The ballgown skirt featured box pleats and platinum embroidery and flowed into a cathedral-length train.
Her headpiece was a silk bow embellished with Swarovski crystals in her hair.
The bride carried a handwrapped design bouquet of white peonies, roses and orchids.
Natalie Parvin Griffith and Ashley Parvin Daniels were their sister’s matrons of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kelly Parker Campbell of Charlotte, cousin of the bride; Casey Brooke Pate of Mount Olive, college roommate of the bride; and Brooke Albertson Bitzenhofer of Goldsboro, Kalie Brooke Norton of Charlotte, Tara Katherine Tillman of Wilmington and Ashley Brooke Wood of Walnut Cove, friends of the bride.
Dr. Jonathan Thomas Soistman of Towson, Md., brother of the groom, and Joshua Wayson Clow of Easton, Md., friend of the groom, were best men.
Groomsmen were Donald Ray Daniels of Winterville and Benjamin Burgess Griffith of Mount Pleasant, S.C., brothers-in-law of the bride, and Alan Lee Debnam of Centreville, Md., Ryan Carl Forbes of Easton, Md., Michael Ralph Kuehn of New York City and Jonathan David McClellan of Charlottesville, Va., friends of the groom.
Sara Beth Daniels of Mount Olive, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Thomas Alexander Soistman of Towson, Md., nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Caroline Ruth Griffith of Mount Pleasant, S.C., niece of the bride, was the miniature bride. Martin Brentley Jackson of Winterville, nephew of the bride, was the miniature groom.
Ann Toler Bryan of Mount Olive, friend the bride’s family, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Wesley and Michele Parker of Garner, cousins of the bride. Sarah Ashton Parvin of Newport, cousin of the bride, distributed the orders of worship.
Special helpers were Jeffrey Turner, Amanda Rosemann, Stephanie Sykes, Olivia Howard and Brittany Dedafoe.
A program of wedding music was provided by Bess Edwards Sawyer of Goldsboro, organist; Paige Vickory Barwick of Mount Olive, violinist; and Donald Ray Daniels of Winterville and Robert Wilson Boyd Jr. of Goldsboro, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the church Christian life center. Mr. and Mrs. Preston Parker of Mount Olive, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Shirley Johnson of Buies Creek, cousin of the bride, and Belinda Parvin of Newport, aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake. Shelby Benton of Goldsboro and Jennifer Parker were directors.
After their wedding trip to Marco Island, Fla., the couple will reside in Parkton.
Events held before the wedding included a holiday shower Dec. 12 at the Benton home in Goldsboro hosted by Shelby Benton, Brooke Bitzenhofer and Mallory Albertson; a game night and dinner Feb. 19 at the Depot in Mount Olive hosted by Doug and Kathy Best; a recipe shower March 12 at the Bryan home hosted by Scottie Bryan and Sharon Turner; a surprise new teacher shower April 12 hosted by the bride’s students, their parents and Cristin Najera; a miscellaneous shower May 1 at the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive; a bachelor’s blast and cast weekend May 27 through 29 on the eastern shore of Maryland hosted by Dr. Jonathan Soistman; a luncheon May 29 at Coral Bay Club in Atlantic Beach hosted by Shelby Benton, Selena Bennett, Shirley Johnson, Ruth Parker, Jennifer Parker, and Belinda Parvin, during which time the bride presented gifts to her attendants; a sunset dinner cruise on the Crystal Coast Lady Cruise Line in Beaufort May 27 through 29 hosted by Natalie Griffith and Ashley Daniels; and a wedding breakfast and bridesmaids’ lunch hosted by Gloria Allen, Cindy Bell, Susie Bundy, Mary Jo Lambert, Jennifer Sykes, Kathy Turner, Debbie Vickory and Itsie Sloan.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner June 10 at the Mad Boar Restaurant in Wallace.
