Harris - Parker
Elizabeth Davis Parker of Raleigh and Durelle Boyd Harris of Raleigh were united in marriage Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill, with the Rev. Gregory Samuel Jones officiating.
The bride is the daughter of John Burwell Parker and Sarah Ann Parker of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Mrs. Francis Ogden Parker Sr., the late Mr. Parker and the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Wilborn Davis Jr. of Goldsboro.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club in Raleigh at the 1996 North Carolina Debutante Ball, where she was an assistant leader. She is employed with Association Management Inc. in Raleigh as the director of communications and special projects.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Warmack Harris of Oxford and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Reid Vick Harris of Seaboard and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hart Brewer of Oxford.
He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and history. He is employed as a customer operations analyst at Cisco Systems Inc. in Research Triangle Park.
Anna Fonvielle Vinson of Raleigh was her cousin’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Lauren Kathleen Crawford of Raleigh and Haley Van Lauren Peacock and Robin Lear Peacock of Goldsboro, family of the bride; Louise Warmack Harris of Raleigh and Kimball Harris Saunders of Southern Pines, sisters of the groom; Carol Edwards Harris of Raleigh, sister-in-law of the groom; Julia Anna Garrison of Raleigh; Katherine Stackhouse Parker of Virginia Beach, Va.; Elizabeth Stackhouse Saunders of Richmond, Va.; and Catherine Louise Thomas of Raleigh.
The groom’s father and brother, Reid Brewer Harris of Raleigh, were best men.
Groomsmen were John Burwell Parker Jr. of Raleigh, brother of the bride; James Winburn Saunders of Southern Pines, brother-in-law of the groom; Robert Kader Crawford of Chapel Hill, family of the bride; Richard Keith Royster Chesnutt of Blowing Rock, cousin of the groom; Miles Stafford Bumgarner of Winston-Salem; John Arthur Dillard of Philadelphia, Pa.; Richard Benbury Ellington of Oxford; Gary Brent Jacques Jr. of Apex; and Bradley Graham Pogue of Beaufort.
Mary Julian Brewer, cousin of the groom, was flower girl. William Bradley Carr Jr. and Baker Allen Carr, cousins of the bride, were ringbearers.
Readers were Elizabeth Neese Woodard and Rebecca Tayloe Seegars of Goldsboro.
Greeters were Susana Marie Jasso of Boulder, Colo., Anne Chitwood Merchant of Arlington, Va., and Anna Sloane Misenheimer and Jennifer Slocum Teague of Raleigh.
Lisa Reynolds Rudd of Raleigh directed the wedding.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s father hosted a reception at the Carolina Inn.
After their wedding trip to Mexico, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon at West End Wine Bar hosted by Mary Ann Parker, Catherine Parker Edmonson, Agnes Parker Woltz and Louise Woltz Smith; a groomsmen’s lunch and scotch tasting at Carolina Club hosted by the groom’s father, brother and brother-in-law; a wedding day brunch at Top of the Hill Brewery; an engagement party at the home of Catherine Thomas in Raleigh hosted by friends; an engagement party at the home of Jane and Scott Dickerson in Oxford hosted by friends; and an engagement party at the home of Barbara Ann and Jim Vinson hosted by friends and family.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner and dance Jan. 21 at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center Carolina Club.
