Tharrington - Johnson
FOUR OAKS — Kathryn Anne Johnson and Norman Allen Tharrington Jr. of Louisburg exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 10 at 5 p.m. at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Revs. Richard Parson and Luke Smith officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Julius Burton and Judy King Johnson of Four Oaks and the granddaughter of the late Stough Burton and Queen Lee Johnson of Four Oaks and the late Willard Ray and Margie Miller King of Mount Olive.
She received a B.S. in agricultural education from North Carolina State University in 2004; a M.S. in agricultural education from North Carolina A&T University in 2007; and a master’s of library science degree from East Carolina University in 2009. She is employed as media coordinator at Dillard Middle School.
The groom is the son of Norman Allen Tharrington Sr. of New Bern and Martha Humphrey Tharrington of New Bern and the grandson of Elsie Coggin Tharrington and the late Clinton Allen Tharrington Jr. of Louisburg and the late Webster LaRoque Humphrey of Kinston and Clara Doby Humphrey of Kinston.
He received his B.S. in agricultural and environmental technology from North Carolina State University in 2000. He is employed as a field lecturer at Eastern Technical Associates.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a champagne satin gown with lace-trimmed V-neckline. The A-line gown was complemented by a side draped waistline with beaded lace appliques and a chapel-length train with covered buttons. The bride wore a two-tier, finger-tip length veil with a beaded scallop edge, beaded flowers and sequins. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of purple hydrangeas.
Rebecca Kiker of Waxhaw, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Beth Tatum of Raleigh, Angie Brooks of Charlotte, Laura Parker of Claremont, Jaime Klies of Fayetteville and Jamie Cozart of Kenansville.
The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Jared Johnson, brother of the bride of Four Oaks, Jay Boyette of Raleigh, Russell Norris of Raleigh, Kevin Stallings of Louisburg, Tony Stallings of Castalia, and Ricky Tharrington of Goldsboro.
Lacy Brooks of Charlotte and Maggie Norris of Raleigh was the flower girl.
Cathy Fonvielle directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Burt Brooks. Megan Pate distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Sheila Oglesby and LaRue Tart, pianist and Billy and Sabrina Tart, vocalist.
Jean Parson was the organist.
The reception was hosted by the parents of the bride and held in the church fellowship hall. Reception greeters were Sheila and Rodney Mozingo. Mary Ann Futrell, aunt of the bride, and Cathy Stallings, aunt of the groom, served the wedding cake. Jeff Oglesby was master of ceremonies.
After a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., and Savannah, Ga., the couple will reside in Louisburg.
A rehearsal was hosted by the groom’s family, at the church, with cooks Rick Tharrington, Jay Boyette, David Brock and David Walston.
Bridal showers included a Lowe’s shower hosted by Rick and Terry Tharrington, Janet and Jamie Cozart and Cathy and Miranda Stallings; a miscellanous shower hosted by the groom’s church, Hickory Rock Baptist in Louisburg; a miscellanous shower hosted by Betty Obremski, Linda Carter and Faye King, aunts of the bride; a miscellaneous shower hosted by Mary Ann Futrell, aunt of the bride and Jane Grantham and Jackie Suggs, friends of the bride; a bachelorette party hosted by Summer Young and Beth Tatum; and a bridesmaids luncheon hosted by Mary Ann Futrell at the Daughtry House in Newton Grove.
