Pippin-Gwaltney
Jo Anna Gwaltney and Gregory Brock Pippin exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 6 at 3 p.m. at Pineview Baptist Church, with pastor Don Sauls officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Joe and Teresa Gwaltney of Goldsboro, the granddaughter of Jarvis Lee and Joyce Gwaltney, Louise Conway and the late Earl Conway of Goldsboro and the great-granddaughter of the late Melvin and Isabelle Gwaltney of Goldsboro.
She is a 2006 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and attends Wayne Community College’s associate nursing degree program.
The groom is the son of Charles and Janet Pippin of LaGrange and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Brock of Beautancus and the late Mr. and Mrs. John L. Pippin of Fremont.
He graduated from Wayne Community College in 2007 with an Associate Science degree in auto mechanics. He is employed as an auto technician at Massey Motor Co. in Kinston.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white A-line double-layered gown with Alencon lace over French silk taffeta. The sweetheart neckline bodice featured handsewn crystals and beadwork with scallop lace straps. French silk taffeta highlighted the empire waistband. The Alencon lace overlay of French silk split down the center of the gown and flowed into a cathedral-length train accented with crystals and beaded scattered appliqués.
Her headpiece was a two-tiered fingertip veil edged with silver bugle beads and silver sequin embroidery that cascaded down her back.
Stephanie Smith was her sister’s matron of honor, while Trisha Blackman, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Laura Kornegay and Lauren Jones, friends of the bride.
Charles Pippin was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Chris Pippin, brother of the groom; Lee Brock, cousin of the groom; and Justin Humbles, friend of the groom.
Ushers were Jarvis Gwaltney, Morgan Gwaltney and Sam Gwaltney, cousins of the bride.
Emma Smith, niece of the bride, was the miniature bride.
Presiding at the register was Chris and Gay Long. Wayne Gwaltney distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Anita Lanier, pianist, and Susan Brock, aunt of the groom, and Tyron Corbett, friend of the groom, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Knowles said good-byes. Sandy Lasiter served the four-tiered wedding cake. Joyce Dudley, cousin of the bride, poured punch.
The couple will take a wedding trip in the spring. They will reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a household shower Nov. 8 at Pineview Baptist Church hosted by Sherry Edwards, Sandy Lasiter and Joyce Gwaltney, grandmother of the bride; a bed and bath shower Jan. 16 at Pineview Church fellowship hall hosted by the couple’ parents; and a bridesmaids’ party Feb. 20 at the home of Stephanie Smith, sister of the bride.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Wilbers Barbecue.
