Kaitlin Suzanne Thomas of New Bern and James Wilson “Will” Hester exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 25 at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mark M. and Janet L. Thomas of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Elizabeth Thomas, the late R. Milton Thomas, Rosella Shirey and the late John F. Shirey of Ligonier, Pa.

She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2004 and cum laude from East Carolina University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is employed as a register nurse at Carolina East Health System.

The groom is the son of James Forest and Joan Wilson Hester of Goldsboro and the grandson of Dolly Hester, the late Horace Hester, Shirley Wilson and the late Yates Wilson of Goldsboro.

He graduated from Rosewood High School in 2003. He is employed as an electrical technician at New River Electrical Corp.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory chiffon over ivory satin A-line dress with a gathered bodice, a beaded lace empire waist and a sweep train.

Her headpiece was a bridal comb with a scroll deisn accented with pearl clusters and Swarovskki rhinestone crystals with a fingertip-length two-tiered veil with a scalloped edge and a bridal comb with a scroll design accented by pearl clusters and Swarovski rhinestone crystals.

The bride carried a bouquet of pink Gerber daises and roses.

Diana Thomas Holland of Goldsboro was her sister’s matron of honor, while Hilary Bauer of Greenville, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Lauren Wooten of Goldsboro, Edye Kornegay of Raleigh and Maura Ryan of Greenville, friends of the bride.

James Hester was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Mark G. Thomas of Pikeville, brother of the bride; Scott Holloman and Kyle Bunn of Goldsboro, cousins of the groom; and Travis Kornegay of Raleigh, friend of the groom.

Amelia Thomas and Magean Thomas were flower girls.

Pandy Hinson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Sherry Montague, sister of the groom. Alison Montague, niece of the groom, distributed programs. Lacie Thomas distributed favors.

A program of wedding music was provided by Linda Sauls, pianist, and Kim Weaver, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Sherry Holloman and Suzette Williamson cut the wedding cake.

After their wedding trip to Ochos Rios, Jamaica, the couple will reside in New Bern.

Events held before the wedding included a tool and garden shower May 30 at the home of Sherry and Jimmy Montague hosted by Mrs. Montague, sister of the groom; a wedding shower June 28 at Rosewood Baptist Church hosted by family and friends; and a lingerie shower July 18 in Wilmington hosted by friends of the bride.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner in Rosewood Church’s Braswell Hall.
