Capps - Gable
Laura Taylor Gable of Raleigh and Gregory Alan Capps of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Madison Hankal officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harold Gable of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. James Henry Dwyer of Richmond, Va., the late Phillip Blenner May and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Orville Gable of Goldsboro.
She is a graduate of Peace College with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. She was presented at the 1999 North Carolina Debutante Ball. She is employed as a certified paralegal with Ragsdale Liggett PLLC.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Butler Capps of Cary and the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Harding Guthrie of Easton, Md., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Leonard Capps Sr. of Laurinburg.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial relations. He is employed by Tri Properties Inc.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal champagne silk gown. The A-line gown had a fitted bodice with a modified strapless sweetheart neckline accented with hand-knit Chantilly lace on the asymmetrical bodice. The bodice had dupioni silk pleats.
Her headpiece was a fingertip-length veil of sheer silk illusion bordered with satin ribbon.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white hydrangeas, roses and Asiatic lilies with a touch of blue delphinium. Satin ribbon wrapped the stems accented with an heirloom handkerchief embroidered by the bride’s mother.
Sallie Seegars Batchelor of Greensboro was her friend’s matron of honor, while Margaret Blenner Gable of Raleigh, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Amanda Leigh Capps of Raleigh, sister of the groom, Jessica Thomas Capps of Raleigh, sister-in-law of the groom, Mildred Pelletier Warren of Greenville, Emily York Perry, Susan Dunlap Stackhouse and Sarah Katherine Upchurch of Raleigh.
Kirby Butler Capps, father of the groom, and Timothy Michael Capps, brother of the groom, were best men.
Groomsmen were Andrew Edward Cooke of Wilmington, Matthew Willis Cooke, Michael Charles Gruman, John Holland McTyeire and Colin Castellow Perry of Raleigh, and Charles Ross Scarantino of Cary.
Willis Boykin Underwood IV was crucifer. Wooten Warner Underwood was Scripture reader.
Mrs. Jasper Warrick Jr. directed the wedding. Riley Caroline Nowell of Louisiana and Teresa Papandrea Williams of Raleigh, friends of the bride, distributed the programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Alice Campbell, organist, and Joseph Brinson, trumpeter.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Goldsboro Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. James Allen Vinson and Mr. and Mrs. George Anthony Worrell greeted the guests.
After their wedding trip, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party June 13 at Humble Pie in Raleigh hosted by friends of the couple; a bridal shower June 13 at the home of Mrs. Colin Castellow Perry hosted by the bridesmaids; a bachelor weekend June 26 in Bald Head Island hosted by the groomsmen; a bachelorette weekend in Charleston, S.C., July 23 hosted by the bridesmaids; a set-the-table bridal shower Aug. 22 at the home of Mrs. David Schmidt of Cary hosted by the groom’s mother and friends; a miscellaneous bridal shower Aug. 11 hosted by coworkers of the bride; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Sept. 25 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Weston Seegars hosted by Mrs. Robert Dean Batchelor, Mrs. Seegars, Mrs. Wilson Bryant Stackhouse and Mrs. Charles Sandford York; and a wedding day brunch Sept. 26 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barrett Logan hosted by friends.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner and dance Sept. 25 at Walnut Creek Country Club.
