Maddry - Flowers
Karen Leigh Flowers and Lawrence McNeill Maddry exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 4 at noon on the lawn of Walnut Creek County Club, with the Rev. Frank Flowers officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie R. Flowers Jr. of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hadden of Goldsboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie R. Flowers of Kenly.
She is a graduate of American Flyers University in Florida. She is employed as a pilot for USAirways.
The groom is the son of Virginia McNeill Maddry and Robert Lawrence Maddry of Virginia Beach, Va., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.L. McNeill of Raeford and the late Mary Lawrence Maddry of Lumberton.
He is a graduate of George Mason University School of Business with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. He is employed with the U.S. Government.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory satin gown accented with crystal beads and clusters of seed pearls. The fitted waistline led to a tufted floor-length skirt that swept to a semi-cathedral train.
Her headpiece was a fingertip veil topped by a beaded tiara.
The bride carried a cascading bouquet of white cymbidium orchids, dendrobiums, roses and pink ranunculus. Dendrobium orchid blooms adorned the cascading lily grass.
Kay Saunders Gorry of Virginia Beach was maid of honor.
Alicia Fleury Stewart of Dallas, Texas, was the bridesmaid.
Todd Horden of Virginia Beach was best man.
Val Little of Virginia Beach was the groomsman.
A program of wedding music was provided by the Joe Distefano Combo.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Walnut Creek Country Club.
After a wedding trip to Hilton Head and the Masters Golf Tournament, the couple will reside in Virginia Beach.
Events held before the wedding included a shower at Northview Baptist Church hosted by Sandra Hadden and Bonnie Hadden, aunts of the bride.
The groom’s mother hosted a rehearsal dinner April 3 at Walnut Creek Country Club.
