Carroll - Phillips
BOONE — Elizabeth Caroline Phillips of Raleigh and Daniel John Carroll were united in marriage in a double-ring ceremony May 2 at 5 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tim Smith officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Warren Phillips of Seven Springs and the granddaughter of Mrs. William Harris Smith and the late Mr. Smith of Mount Olive and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franklin Phillips of Seven Springs.
She is a 1998 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in chemistry. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She is employed as a territory sales manager with Philip Morris USA.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Joseph Carroll of Raleigh and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Carroll of Bloomington, Minn., and the late Helmer Olson and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Murray of Hibbing, Minn.
He is a 1996 graduate of Millbrook High School in Raleigh and a 2000 graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics with minors in statistics and physics. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He is employed as a commercial underwriting manager at Nationwide Insurance.
The bride was escorted by her father and the marriage was blessed by her parents.
She wore an ivory satin strapless gown with a drop waist and a fitted bodice enhanced with beaded metallic embroidery. The A-line skirt featured pick-ups throughout adorned with a beaded medallion at the waist and flowed into a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a back comb of pearls and crystals with a single-tiered fingertip veil of silk illusion with soutache edging.
The bride carried a bouquet of ivory hydrangeas, baby green hydrangeas, vendella spray roses and green hypericum berries wrapped in ivory satin ribbon with beaded pearls.
Lesley Parker Richardson of Hampstead was her cousin’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Kirby Hamner of Raleigh, sister of the groom, and Elizabeth Kelly Dinda of Charlotte, Eryn Elizabeth Linkous of Raleigh and Marylee Hoyle Dilling of Houston, Texas, friends of the bride.
Thomas Joseph Bonavita of Raleigh was his friend’s best man.
Groomsmen were Dr. Sidney Warren Phillips Jr. of Wrightsville Beach, brother of the bride, and Michael David Harris of Humble, Texas, Eric Wesley Loots of Cary and Zackary Jennings Dickson of Charlotte, friends of the groom.
Ushers were Ronald Park Hamner Jr. of Raleigh, brother-in-law of the groom, and Alan John Zegar and Steven Daniel Neal of Charlotte and Michael Raphael Zon of Raleigh, friends of the groom.
Scripture readers were Trent Lee Arrowood of San Francisco, Calif., friend of the bride, and Kori Kinmon McIntyre of Fort Mill, S.C., friend of the groom.
Jennie Hallsey of Boone directed the wedding. Torri Wren White of Fayetteville and Ingrid Wagner Thomas of Raleigh, friends of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by organist Mark Tomasi and vocalist Rachel Naggy.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner/dance reception at Crestwood.
After a wedding trip to Italy, the couple resides in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party Jan. 11 hosted by the bride’s parent at their home at Seven Springs; a couple’s fiesta dinner and shower Feb. 21 at the home of Trey and Kori McIntyre in Fort Mill hosted by Mrs. McIntyre and Kelly Dinda; a bachelorette weekend March 27 through 29 in Charlotte hosted by Kelly Dinda; a honeymoon shower March 28 in Charlotte hosted by Kelly Dinda; a couple’s shower April 11 in Cary hosted by Brin Gasperini and Brent Myers; a bachelor weekend April 17 through 19 in Wilmington hosted by Tom Bonavita; and a bridal luncheon May 2 at Blowing Rock Grille in Blowing Rock hosted by Melody Wilson and Cindy Parker, aunts of the bride, and Nelda Smith, grandmother of the bride.
The Carroll family hosted a rehearsal dinner May 1 at Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock.
