Newsome - West
Karlie Jean West and Daniel Leonidas Newsome exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 7 at 3 p.m. at Bethel Church, with the Rev. Tony W. Conner and Pastor H. Powell Dew Jr. officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Stephen and Kellie West of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Frances West and the late Rudolph West of Fremont and Shirley Weir and the late Jack Weir of Port St. Joe Beach, Fla.
She is a 2005 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2008 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in dental hygiene. She is employed as a dental hygienist at Dr. Robert E. McArthur’s Family Practice Dentistry in Snow Hill.
The groom is the son of David and Laura Newsome of Fremont and the grandson of Buck Newsome and Shirley Newsome of Fremont, Max Eskildsen of Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Bess Cloer of Statesville.
He is a 2001 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2005 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degrees in agriculture business and livestock and poultry. He is self-employed as a farmer and business owner with Newsome Farms and D&D Septic.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory A-line gown of taffeta with a strapless sweetheart neckline. The bodiced gown was enhanced with pleating and crystal and sequin beading and lead into a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a band of crystal and pearl beading with a fingertip beaded veil of crystals and pearls.
Leslie Buckner of Candler was her cousin’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Natalie Speight and Emily Berry of Fremont, sisters of the groom; Jessica West of San Diego, Calif., sister-in-law of the bride; and Kelli Daughtry of Goldsboro, friend of the bride.
David Newsome was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Alan Brock of Mount Olive, friend of the groom; Richard Berry of Fremont, brother-in-law of the groom; Erik West of San Diego, brother of the bride; and Blake Colgan of Goldsboro, cousin of the groom.
Honorary bridesmaids were Stephanie Ballance of Greenville, Kayla Holmes of Princeton, Samatha Lane of Goldsboro, Megan Lancaster of Boone, Brooke Radford of Nahunta, Jenny Jackson of Fremont and Candace Evans of Micro, friends of the bride.
Honorary groomsmen were Earl Speight of Fremont, brother-in-law of the groom, and Dee Uzzell of Mount Olive, Joshua Stutts of Fremont and Christopher Hooks of Raleigh, friends of the groom.
Harley and Cheyenne West of San Diego, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Hayden Neal of Fremont, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Joan Goodright of Wooster, Ohio, great-aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. The honorary bridesmaids attended the register and distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Lisa West of Fremont, pianist, cousin of the bride, and Nancy Norris of Pinkney and Kim Thomas of Pikeville, vocalists, friends of the couple.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Steak Barn. Greeters were Paul and Chanda Newsome, uncle and aunt of the groom. Melissa Newsome, Melissa B. Newsome, Beth Kirby and Rebecca West, aunts of the couple, were special helpers.
After a wedding trip to Cozumel, Mexico, the couple resides in Fremont.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower Jan. 24 at Fremont Missionary Baptist Church fellowship hall hosted by aunts of the couple and a lingerie shower/bachelorette party Jan. 31 at Bahama Breeze in Raleigh hosted by Natalie Speight, Emily Berry and Leslie Buckner.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner March 6 at the Steak Barn.
