ALASKA — Melinda Lee Dowdy Kurent of Manteo and Dr. Michael D. Arnette of LaGrange exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 30 at 2 p.m. in the Star Princess wedding chapel, with Capt. Edward Perrin officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Gary Joseph Dowdy of Nags Head and Janice Gibbs Lucero of Virginia Beach, Va..
She is the owner of a restaurant in Buxton.
The groom is the son of Anne Arnette and the late David Arnette of Goldsboro.
He is employed as an oral surgeon at the Kinston Hospital and owns his own private practice.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by Lourens Roux.
She wore a long gown laced with pearls and a white fur cape.
Her headpiece was a tiara with pearls and rhinestones with a veil with pearls.
The bride carried a mixture of lilies, roses, tulips and daises.
After a wedding cruise to Alaska, the couple reside in LaGrange.
