Langston - Smith
GREENVILLE — Tracy Lauren Smith and Thomas Blake Langston exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. at Oakmont Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rick Ward officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Keith Smith of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Laura Mae Roberts, the late Roy Roberts, Shirley Smith and the late James William Smith of Pikeville.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She is employed as a registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Langston and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Henry Langston of Winterville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ronald E. Rice of Greenville.
He is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in information technology. He is employed by One Source Communications.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory strapless gown with a fitted bodice with a sweetheart neckline and beaded appliqués and an A-line draped pickup skirt.
Her headpiece was a fingertip-length veil with a beaded scalloped edge adorned with an heirloom satin bead-embellished bow that was worn by her mother and sisters on their wedding days.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of mixed autumn flowers.
Angela Smith and Jayme McLawhon of Goldsboro were their sister’s matrons of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jackie Battles of Cary, Shannon Lowrance of Lewisburg, W.Va., and Amber Varner of Greenville.
Honorary bridesmaids were Rachel Brown of Cary, Lindsey Howard of Raleigh, Ashley Reilly of Wilmington, Stephanie Takacs of Greenville, Brett Turner of Brown Summitt and Abby Vetter of Atlanta, Ga.
James E. Langston Sr., father of the groom, and James E. Langston Jr. of New York, N.Y., brother of the groom, were best men.
Groomsmen were Tommy Langston of Winterville, uncle of the groom, and Daniel Hagar, Byron Nelson and Brian Perry of Greenville.
Zachary Smith of Goldsboro, nephew of the bride, was the junior usher.
Taylor Grace Smith of Goldsboro, niece of the bride, was the flower girl.
Barbara Jean Harrison, aunt of the bride, was the Scripture reader.
Patti Weisenberger directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Hancock.
A program of wedding music was provided by the Rev. Michael McKnight, pianist; Elizabeth York, violinist; and Brett Turner, friend of the bride, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at the Murphy Center at East Carolina University.
After a wedding trip to Saint Lucia, the couple reside in Greenville.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal breakfast Sept. 21 at the Daily Grind; an engagement party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayland Denton of Bayview hosted by friends of the groom’s family; an engagement party at the beach home of the bride’s family in Emerald Isle hosted by the bride’s family; a bridal shower and luncheon in Goldsboro hosted by the bride’s sisters; a miscellaneous shower at Saulston United Methodist Church hosted by the bride’s church family; a home and garden shower hosted by aunts and uncle of the groom; a bachelorette weekend and lingerie shower in Emerald Isle hosted by friends of the bride; and a bachelor weekend in Wilmington hosted by friends of the groom.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner and dance Sept. 21 at Greenville Golf and Country Club.
