Goodger - Dean
COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Elizabeth Brooke Dean of Bethesda, Md., and Brian Kent Goodger of Bethesda exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 5 at 5 p.m. at the University of Maryland Memorial Chapel, with Father Lawrence Hernandez officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Winston J. and Caroline Patton Dean of Rockville, Md., and the granddaughter of Lucille Gaddy and the late Walter Vance Dean of Monroe and Perry and Vivian DeHart Patton of LaGrange.
She is a 2003 graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park and a 2005 graduate of the University of Maryland University College with a master’s degree in e-commerce. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She is employed as a contract specialist at the National Cancer Institute.
The groom is the son of Donald Kent and Patricia Elko Goodger of Laurel, Md., and the grandson of Gladys Goodger and the late Kenneth Goodger of Hyattsville, Md., and Helen Elko and the late Nicholas Elko of Johnstown, Pa.
He is a 1997 graduate of Frostburg State University and a 2006 graduate of the University of Maryland University College with a master’s degree in management and a concentration in procurement and contracts management. He is employed as a contracting officer at the office of the secretary with the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a a sleeveless candlelight organza A-line gown with ribbon detail on the waist and the skirt. The chapel-length veil was candlelight tulle with ribbon appliqués.
She carried a bouquet of yellow and ivory roses, shasta daisies and yellow Gerber daisies with baby’s breath and greenery.
Jessica Kerr Dean was her sister-in-law’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Nicole Rossel, Sandra Lang, Katie Harkness and Lisa Goodger, sister of the groom.
Peter O’Neil was best man.
Groomsmen were Wes Whalen, Dan Smiczek, Mark Krukar and Bret Patton Dean, brother of the bride.
Ushers were Matthew Perry Patton and Marvin Allen.
Rebecca Elizabeth Dean, niece of the bride, was honorary flower girl.
A program of wedding music was provided by Sunny Helms, organist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a cocktail hour and reception at the University of Maryland College Inn and Conference Center in College Park.
After a wedding trip to Fajardo, Puerto Rico, the couple reside in Bethesda.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower April 14 at Laurel Women’s Club hosted by the groom’s mother; a bridal shower March 26 hosted by co-workers of the bride; a bachelorette dinner Feb. 17; and a bridal shower Feb. 17 hosted by Jessica Kerr Dean.
The groom's parents held a rehearsal dinner at 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant at College Park Airport.
