Person-Edwards
Jessica Ray Edwards of Goldsboro and William Franklin Person Jr. exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 22 at 3 p.m. at United in Christ, with Pastor Ira Williford officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Deborah Edwards of Goldsboro and Kenneth Ray Edwards of Princeton and the granddaughter of William A. and Minnie Baker and the late William Frank Edwards of Goldsboro and Emily Edwards of Smithfield.
She is a 1998 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and attended Wayne Community College. She is employed as assistant director and lead teacher at Christian Care Academy.
The groom is the son of Frankie and Faye Person of Patetown and the granddaughter of the late Thelma Howell, Dewitt Howell, the late Pauline Person Walker and the late James Person of Patetown.
He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1995 and attended North Carolina State University. He is employed as a correctional officer at Maury Correctional Institution.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an embroidered satin gown with beaded straps and a sweetheart neckline with embroidery that overlaid the Basque waistline and met the A-line skirt with a split-front overskirt. Matching embroidery and crystal beading was repeated on the chapel-length train.
She wore a two-tiered fingertip veil.
The bride carried a bouquet of white and pink-tipped roses with baby’s breath and ivy.
Jaime Jones served her sister as matron of honor, while Katie Edwards was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Heather Lancaster, friend of the bride; Lynn Sasser, sister of the groom; and Monica Sasser, niece of the groom.
Frankie Person served as his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were C.G. and Josh Kirby and Monty Meismer, friends of the groom, and Lance Sasser, nephew of the groom.
Honorary bridesmaids were Paula Davis and Peggy Person, sisters of the groom, and Amy Colvin, friend of the bride.
Hailey and Megan Turbeville and Emily Person, children of the couple, were flower girls. Benjamin Jones, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.
Pam Gurley directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Peggy Person. Ashley Lucas, Autumn Lancaster, Nathan Colvin and Drew Colvin distributed programs.
Barbara White, Peggy Weaver and Joyce Braswell, aunts of the bride, were special helpers.
A program of wedding music was provided by Michelle Martin, vocalist, and Mike David and Louis Thompson.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
After a wedding trip to the coast, the couple reside in Patetown.
Events held before the wedding included a floating shower July 16 hosted by Minnie Baker, Jaime Jones and Katie Edwards; a pantry shower July 15 hosted by Paula and Belinda Davis; a lawn and garden shower July 8 hosted by Frankie, Faye and Peggy Person and Jeffrey, Lynn, Monica and Lance Sasser; and a floating shower June 25 hosted by United in Christ members.
The families held a rehearsal dinner July 21 in the church fellowship hall.
