Brogden-Stewart
Leah Alden Stewart and Paul Stewart Brogden exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 15 at 7 p.m. at the home of Todd Moore and Billie Jo McCullen, officiated by the Rev. Rick Mondell.
The bride is the daughter of Frances Tyndall Stewart and the late James Alton Stewart of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Edward Bernard and Ernestine Bissette Tyndall and the late Harold Luther and Jane Underwood Stewart of Goldsboro.
She is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and attended Wayne Community College. She is employed as a preschool teacher at Summit Christian Academy and Child Care.
The groom is the son of Elnora Barwick Brogden and the late Gene Vermont Brogden of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Major and Mary Lou Barwick and the late Paul Jones and Nettie Vermont Brogden of Mount Olive.
He graduated from Goldsboro High School and attended Wayne Community College. He is owner of Paul Brogden Paint Co.
The bride was escorted by the groom’s son, Beaux Brogden, and given in marriage by her mother and family.
She wore a white chiffon gown with an empire waist, a fitted bodice, a heart-shaped neckline and a semi-cathedral train with an open back.
Melinda Key of Tampa, Fla., served her sister as matron of honor, while Robin Stilwell of Goldsboro was her friend’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Josephine Le, Billie Jo McCullen, Charlotte Hallow, Amanda Hinnant and Megan Rose of Goldsboro, friends of the couple.
Beaux Brogden served as his father’s best man.
Groomsmen were Eddie Brogden and Glen Brogden, brothers of the groom; Todd Moore, Alan Mathis and Jeff Prince of Goldsboro, friends of the couple; and James Britt of Raleigh, brother of the bride.
Haley Burdeski of Goldsboro, great-niece of the groom, was flower girl. Devon James of Goldsboro, great-nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Donna Underwood of Goldsboro, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was April James of Goldsboro, niece of the groom. Barbara Reese of Goldsboro, sister of the groom, distributed programs.
Special helpers were Ray Bryan, Steve Velker, Andrea Heekin, Michelle Verhagae, James Britt and Pam Lowery.
A program of wedding music was provided by Barry Langston of Wilmington, pianist, and Shawnette Baity of Wilmington and Pam Lowery of Goldsboro, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, friends of the couple held an outdoor reception at the home of Todd Moore and Billie Jo McCullen.
After a wedding trip to Sunset Beach, the couple reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a host/hostess appreciation dinner at the home of the couple; a bridesmaids’ champagne brunch at the home of Josephine Le of Walnut Creek, an around-the-clock shower and engagement dinner at the home of Bob and Amanda Hinnant of Goldsboro hosted by the Hinnants, Jeff Prince, Robin Stilwell and Josephine Le.
