McCalop-Raiford
Tomika M. Raiford and Sharn Cartest McCalop exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 6 at 3 p.m. at Bear Creek Association Headquarters Church, with Elder Kenneth D. Vaughn officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Pastors George and Yolanda Beary and the late Brenda Raiford and the granddaughter of Delores Atkinson and Norwood Alston of Goldsboro.
She is a 1991 graduate of Goldsboro High School and a 1995 graduate of Mitchell’s School of Cosmetic Arts with a degree in cosmetology. She is employed at Peggy’s Beauty Salon.
The groom is the son of Levy McCalop of Mount Olive and the late Dorothy McCalop and the grandson of the late James and Carrie McCalop.
He graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1988. He is employed at McDonald’s and Mount Olive Pickle Plant.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory satin halter gown with a wrapped waist adorned with Alencon lace appliqués with silver embroidery, sequins, bugle beads and seed pearls. The back bodice closed with satin-covered buttons and flowed into a semi-cathedral train.
For her headpiece, she chose a princess-style tiara adorned with rhinestones and round and baroque pearls around the top attached to a two-tiered fingertip tulle veil accented with scattered crystals and corded edging.
Lataricia Thrower and Quinsha Warren of Dudley served their friend as matrons of honor, while Consuelo Bryant of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, and Benita Atkinson of Goldsboro, aunt of the bride, were maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were Michelle Langston, Felecia Johnson and LaTrina Newson of Goldsboro and Pamela Cutler of Durham, friends of the bride; Condranique Reid of Goldsboro and Tracy Jones of LaGrange, cousins of the bride; Crystal Raiford of Dudley, sister-in-law of the bride; and Kim Lawson of Goldsboro, niece of the groom.
Johnnell Muriell and Anthony Ryals of Dudley served as best men.
Groomsmen were Vincent Smith of Mount Olive, Ronderick Thrower and Ray Martinez of Dudley and Aaron Smith and Tikki Buchraham of Goldsboro, friends of the groom; George Dobson and Keith Ammons of Mount Olive, cousins of the groom; Darrick Raiford of Dudley and Raimondi Raynor of Goldsboro, brothers of the bride; and Desmond Raiford of Dudley, son of the bride.
Ushers were Bobby Lawson of Goldsboro, nephew of the groom, and Lacarous Outlaw of Goldsboro, brother of the bride.
Latrecia Johnson of Dudley, daughter of the bride; Tanora Dunn of Goldsboro, niece of the bride; and Chelsea Core of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, were junior bridesmaids.
Deon Beary of Goldsboro, brother of the bride; James Jones of LaGrange, cousin of the bide; and Ashanti MacFarland of Dudley, nephew of the bride; were junior groomsmen.
Kirelle Segers of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was the miniature bride. Jykell McLamb of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was the miniature groom.
Tarriona Sutton of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was flower girl. Joshua Newson of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was ringbearer.
Hostesses were Angie Sheffield, Shirley Barfield, Donnetta Dickerson, Zena Beary, Juanita Baldwin, Tonya Barnes, Pamela Mitts, Tonesha Wooten, Janetta Johnson, Charlaine Ward and Toni Futrell.
Consuelo Bryant, cousin of the bride, planned the wedding.
Peggy Ward, friend of the bride, directed the wedding.
A program of wedding music was provided by Anointed Treasures.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
After a wedding trip to St. Thomas, St. Maarten and the Bahamas, the couple reside in Dudley.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelor party May 5 hosted by friends of the groom; a masseuse shower April 30 at the home of the bride hosted by Peggy Ward, Consuelo Bryant and Benita Atkinson; a lingerie shower April 29 at Ryan’s Steakhouse hosted by Consuelo Bryant and Benita Atkinson; and a bridal shower April 22 at Ryan’s Steakhouse hosted by Consuelo Bryant.
Aunts of the groom held a rehearsal dinner May 5.
