Williams - Durham
Amanda Newsome Durham and Edward Morton Williams exchanged vows in a double ring ceremony June 10 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Glenn Phillips Jr. officiating at First Baptist Church in Goldsboro.
Earl Newsome of Sanford and Kathy Newsome of Clayton are parents of the bride. She is granddaughter of Lois Newsome and Martha Wolfe both of Goldsboro and the late Earl Newsome and Thomas Wolfe both of Goldsboro. Parents of the groom are Frank and Nelda Williams of Goldsboro and Jean Williams of Wilson.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal two piece gown of white bridal satin. Flower appliqués adorned with pearls and sequins embellished the strapless, V-line bodice and an A-line skirt. Her headpiece was a rhinestone tiara and a cathedreal length veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses.
Jennifer Melvin of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Karen Jennette of Raleigh, aunt of the bride, Sheryl Blanke of Goldsboro, and Stacy Sanderson of Goldsboro, friends of the bride. Derreck Williams of Goldsboro, brother of the groom, was his best man. Groomsmen were Don Scott of Goldsboro, John Hoover of Wilson, and Shane Praytor of Clyde, friends of the groom. Ian Newsome of Sanford, half brother of the bride, and Douglas Williams of Goldsboro, nephew of the groom, were ushers. Junior bridesmaids were Sydney and Michelle, daughters of the bride.
Laura Wolfe of Wake Forest, aunt of the bride, directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Renee Lancaster of Princeton. The wedding photographer was Thelma Hill of Kinston, aunt of the groom.
A program of wedding music was provided by pianist Anita Poland and vocalists Glenn Phillips and Jesse Gies. After a wedding trip to Oak Island, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
Following the ceremony, a reception was given by family and friends of the bride and groom in the Elsie R. Hooks Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church in Goldsboro. Bill and Ila Sutton greeted guests.
Frank and Nelda Williams, parents of the groom, held a garden rehearsal dinner on June 9 hosted by Bill and Anna White of Goldsboro.
On May 24, Goldsboro Physical Therapy held a shower for the bride.
On May 21, friends of the bride and groom held a floating shower at the home of Bill and Jan Edgerton of Goldsboro.
