Cooper - Davis
WILSON — Krystal Beverly Davis of Fremont and Thomas Anthony Cooper of Kenly were united in holy matrimony May 20 at 5 p.m.
The Rev. Daniel Johnson officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Forest Hills Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Wendi Beverly Batts of Fremont and Kenneth W. Davis Jr. of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Joyce Beverly, Marie Davis and the late Kenneth W. Davis Sr. of Goldsboro and the late Wilburn Beverly of Coeburn, Va., and the stepgranddaughter of Ramon and Mary Batts of Goldsboro.
The groom is the son of Nancy Matthews Brink of Wendell and Tommy Cooper of Coats and the stepson of Bob Brink of Wendell and Jean Cooper of Coats. He is the grandson of the late Allen and Mary Matthews and the late Larry and Patsy Cooper of Raleigh and the stepgrandson of Madgie Cooper of Louisburg.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father and stepfather, the bride wore a diamond white gown of silk chiffon with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice had a ruched asymmetrical drape overlay embellished with Austrian crystals and flowed into an A-line skirt. The back bodice closed with covered bridal buttons accented with ruching and crystals and cascaded into a semi-cathedral train. She also wore a handpainted porcelain horseshoe on her right wrist given to her by her sister, Madison, for good luck.
For her headpiece, she chose a tiara of rhinestones that extended into a single-tiered veil of silk illusion with a pencil edge with accents of silver threading adorned with stardust crystals. She carried a bouquet of hand-tied mixed tulips and calla lilies accented with four butterflies.
Heather Hargove of Elm City and Beth Pittman of Raleigh were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Latasha Canady of Selma, Emily Johnson and Raychel Batts of Goldsboro and Melissa Hargrove of Greenville.
Tommy Cooper was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were James Nooe of Raleigh and Andy Lufkin of Charlotte, friends; Ryan Batts of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride; James Falls of Fuquay Varina and Jason Ash of Raleigh, friends of the groom; Chris Warrick of Coats, stepbrother of the groom; Andrew Warrick of Coats, nephew of the groom; and Bob Brink of Wendell, stepfather of the groom.
Kevin Cooper of Wendell, brother of the groom, was the honorary best man.
Madison Batts of Fremont, sister of the bride, was flower girl. Christopher Wiggns of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was ring bearer.
Wanda Bunting, Jean Watson and Mary Williamson of Wilson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing program was Patty Edens of Goldsboro, friend of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Clyde Patterson of Wilson, organist, and Anna Johnson of Wilson, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to Disney World and Orlando, Fla., the couple will reside in Kenly.
The bride is a graduate of Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf. She attended Gallaudet University of Washington D.C. and Barton College. She is employed at Small World Child Care Center.
The groom graduated from Athen’s Drive High School of Raleigh. He attended Wake Community College. He is employed with Hughes Supply of Raleigh.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Willow Springs Country Club of Wilson.
On May 7, the bride and her mother held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Logan’s Roadhouse Restaurant. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
Patty Edens and Pat Callahan, friends of the bride; Raychel Batts, cousin of the bride; and Kim Batts, aunt of the bride; held a miscellaneous shower April 30 at Small World Child Care Center.
On March 26, the groom’s stepmother and Teresa Walters, aunt of the groom, held a gift card shower at Coats Community Center.
Beth Pittman, Heather Hargrove, Melissa Hargrove, Lusella Hargrove and Livvie Gooding, friends of the bride, held a miscellaneous shower March 5 at the Gooding home.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Something Different Restaurant of Wilson. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.
