Sasser - Kearney
Melissa Paige Kearney of Goldsboro and Samuel Benton Sasser exchanged promises May 6 at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Andy Stovall officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Whitley Church.
Parents of the bride are Dennis and Lori Kearney of Pikeville. She is the granddaughter of Lois Hollingsworth of Hertford and Leslie Garland Newell and L.C. and Dorothy Kearney of Goldsboro.
Parents of the groom are Bobby and Billie Faye Sasser of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of the late Rudolph and Hilda Barbour of Princeton and the late George “Buck” and Henrietta Sasser of Goldsboro.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a princess-line chiffon over satin strapless gown accented with crystal beading, sequins and pearls. It had a chapel train with embroidered lace, crystal and pearl beading.
For her headpiece, she chose a double-tiered veil of silk illusion. She carried a bouquet of white roses with oriental lilies.
Jessica Smith, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Michele Martinez and Heather Gurley, friends of the bride, and Judy Gooding, sister of the groom.
Bobby Sasser was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Jody Ginn and Jesse Hufstetler, friends of the groom, and Keith Gooding, brother-in-law of the groom.
Payton Hatch, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Luke Gooding, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.
Leigh Sanders and Jackie Flowers directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Rhonda Butler, sister of the groom. Kelsey Sanders distributed programs.
Special helpers were Kim Anys, Joy Harding, Janice Hatch, Emmy Haveri, Lois Hollingsworth, Jean Sasser, Sybil Sasser, Angela Short, Laura Short, Kirsten Stovall and Sylvia Taylor.
After a wedding trip to Disney World and Daytona Beach, Fla., the couple is residing in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Wayne Christian School. She attends Wayne Community College for a medical transcription degree. She is employed as office manager with Chiropractic Advantage.
The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1994. He attended Barton College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is employed as a wireless consultant with Alltel.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lane Tree Golf Course.
On May 5, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Whitley Church.
Judy Gooding held a lingerie shower April 28.
On April 23, Jessica Smith, Angela Shirt, aunt of the bride, and Laura Short, cousin of the bride, held a bridal shower.
Leigh Sanders and Jackie Flowers held a bridal shower April 20.
On April 15, the bride’s mother and Janice Hatch, aunt of the bride, held a bridal luncheon.
The groom’s family held a bridal shower April 9.
On Aug. 12, friends of the bride held a skydiving bachelorette party at Carolina Sky Sports.
