WILMINGTON — Vanessa Shavon Nicolas of Wilmington and Bradley Dale Williams were united in holy matrimony Saturday, April 2, at 3 p.m.
Robert Goff Jr. officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Saint Thomas Preservation Hall.
The bride is the daughter of Sandra Burkett of Wilmington and Steven W. Larsen of Katy, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Cecile Byrd Burkett and the late William Harvey Burkett of Wilmington.
Parents of the groom are Dale Wilson and Shirley McCullen Williams of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Lucille Raynor McCullen and the late George Washington McCullen of Clinton and Herbert L. and Mary I. Williams of Athens, Tenn.
Given in marriage and escorted by her mother, the bride wore a formal strapless gown of silk satin. The bodice was adorned with iridescent beading and Swarovski crystals. The skirt cascaded into a semi-cathedral-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose a cathedral-length veil with a finished edge. She carried a bouquet of white roses with a mixture of white assorted flowers accented with spring greenery.
Jamie Burkett of Wilmington, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Christy Williams Morton of Fayetteville and Holly Williams Rucker of Cary, sisters of the groom, and Bethany P. Pridgen of San Diego, Calif., Denise Pridgen of Greenville, S.C., J. Christy Willetts of Cary and A. Sheree Lanier of Wilmington, friends of the bride.
Dale Wilson Williams was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Gregory C. Rucker of Cary, brother-in-law of the groom; Robert L. Bright of Greenville, friend of the groom; Craig Harmon of Burlington and Tom King of Fayetteville, college friends; and Brandon Lanier of Wilmington, friend of the bride.
Cody Williams Morton of Fayetteville, nephew of the groom, was the junior groomsman.
Caitlyn K. Morton of Fayetteville, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Johnathan Hunter Morton of Fayetteville, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.
Linda Parker Lassiter of Four Oaks, family friend, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Melissa C. McLean of Wilmington, cousin of the bride. Wendy S. Coleman of Wilmington distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by George Wesley McCullen of Raleigh, uncle of the groom, organist; Hollie Quinton Heller of Pikeville, vocalist; and Travis L. Temples of Nashville, Tenn., cousin of the groom, guitarist.
After a wedding cruise to the western Caribbean, the couple is residing in Cary.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Laney High School of Wilmington and a 2000 graduate of Cape Fear Community College. She is employed as a dental assistant with Dr. Robert Elliott, pediatrics, of Cary.
The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1991 and East Carolina University in 1995. He is employed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation of Raleigh as an appraiser.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s family held a reception at St. Thomas Preservation Hall. The couple distributed Lance Armstrong yellow wristband favors in honor of the groom’s father who recently had brain cancer surgery.
On April 1, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Hieronymus Seafood of Wilmington. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
Christy W. Morton of Fayetteville, sister of the groom, Mary I. Williams of Athens, grandmother of the groom, and Marr Williams Temples of Cookeville, Tenn., aunt of the groom, held a bridesmaids’ luncheon April 1 at Elijah’s on the River of Wilmington.
Ladies of Oak Forest Road Church of Christ held a bridal brunch and miscellaneous shower March 19.
March 12 and 13, Jamie Burkett and friends of the bride held a bachelorette party weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Holly W. Rucker, sister of the groom, and Linda Lassiter, friend of the family, held a bridal luncheon Feb. 26 at Carly’s on Salem of Apex.
On Feb. 24, co-workers of the bride held a dinner party at the home of Nanette Casalette of Morrisville.
Carol Ann King, aunt of the bride, and Sandra and Jamie Burkett held a miscellaneous shower and dinner party Feb. 5 at the Burkett home in Wilmington.
